The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work is conducting a study to
assess the audience impact of the documentary film, Together: Family Recovery. The
study is led by Mer W. Francis, PhD, MSW and Ya-Li Yang, Ph.D. Student, MSW.
The study aims to measure potential changes in awareness, knowledge, and
attitudes as well as the actions of participants and reported changes in their
family communication patterns.
This study will use a pre-post survey design with three time points (Baseline:
Immediately before viewing; Follow-up 1: Immediately after viewing; Follow-up 2:
6 weeks after viewing). The survey will also capture actions participants take to
learn more about family recovery and engage with the family recovery
community.
The survey will be conducted during in person and virtual screening events. Data will be
used for efficacy, to assist in resource development and for future presentations at
events, conferences and workshops.
